Pikmin Bloom turns a walk into a small experience: your steps grow Pikmin and you leave a trail of flowers behind you. Kokume is built on the same joy of walking having a result, just in a different way. On the way you capture pieces of the map, build on them and watch the area around your home gradually become yours.
Instead of flowers you leave buildings behind. A region captured on a walk stays yours and keeps producing resources.
Kokume does not count steps. It works with where you are and what you can reach, so even a short walk around the block is enough to build or gather resources.
Forest, field, meadow, quarry or water - each terrain favours a different resource. On your walks you start seeing your surroundings as a supply base too.
Pikmin Bloom is calm and has no rivals. Kokume is a strategy game with three factions, so someone can attack your land. If you want pure relaxation, stay with Pikmin; if you want a goal, you will find it here.
Pikmin Bloom is a relaxed app from big studios; Kokume is an independent early-access strategy game. We compare what each gives you for a walk.
| What's compared | Pikmin Bloom | Kokume |
|---|---|---|
| What counts | Steps and distance walked | Location - what is within your reach |
| What a walk leaves behind | Pikmin, flowers, postcards and a diary | Territory, buildings and resources |
| Pace | Calm, no pressure | Calm building, but territory can be lost |
| Other players | Shared flowers and community events | Three factions competing for land and joint attacks on bosses |
| Platforms | Android, iOS | Android and web browser |
| Where it is played | Worldwide | Currently Czechia and Slovakia |
Both give walks a purpose and both are played on a real-world map. Pikmin Bloom is a calm companion that counts steps, though, while Kokume is a strategy game where your walks build a territory you compete for with others.
No. It works with location: what matters is where you are and what you can reach from there. There is no daily step goal to hit.
Yes. Gathering resources, building or finishing a quest takes a moment, then you walk on. Tension only comes when someone attacks your land - but you build your defence in advance and it holds even while you are not playing.
Nothing. The game is free on Android and in the web browser, and we do not sell anything in it. It is in early access, so it keeps evolving.
Kokume is free. Get it on Android or open the web version and capture your first region on a walk around home.
